The hustle and bustle of 30 June may be long gone but for our staff, the last two months have been packed with networking and charitable events.

In August, our Director, Amanda kicked off the social festivities at the Toowoomba Shark Tank. Hosted by Best Night in Cookbook and raising funds for Cancer Council Queensland, Amanda joined representatives from Enterprise Legal and McGrath Estate Agents Toowoomba to listen to pitches from four corporate challengers. With a sales challenge following the event, it was Kat from Sonny and Kat Photography who took out the overall win.

Heading out to regional Queensland was on the cards for four of our tax team members. Director, Myles and Graduate Tax Advisor, Sarah journeyed to St George to visit clients while Client Services Officer, Jenny and Tax Advisor, Jess got dressed up for the Weengallon Pink Ladies Day. As a proud sponsor of the annual event, we were thrilled to donate themed, pink water bottles to add to the table decor for guests to take home.

Our Financial Planner, Rob represented the firm at the annual U3A Toowoomba Senior’s Week Expo, catching up with other, local businesses and talking to attendees about aged care and retirement planning.

As a business with a presence in regional Queensland, supporting our farmers struggling with impact of drought is a cause close to our hearts. Our team stepped up their fundraising efforts in September, hosting a ‘Fiver for a Farmer’ dress up and morning tea, and a ‘Super Dogs and Super Sundaes’ lunch extravaganza. With our Directors matching efforts for the dress up event, a total of $934.40 was raised for the charity, Drought Angels.

Directors, Mick, Ben and Amanda hit the dance floor with their partners at the annual LifeFlight Toowoomba Ball held at the beginning of September. They took the opportunity to view our firm commemorative tile which is hanging proudly on the “Wall of Heroes’ in the new Clive Berghofer LifeFlight Centre.

National Blood Donor Week saw four of our team members visit the Toowoomba Blood Donor Centre to roll up their sleeves. With last year’s efforts resulting in an impressive, 312 lives saved, our team have once again signed up to participate in the Australian Red Cross Red25 challenge.

Our tax team members, Justin, Jess, Petrina and Nick had a great time at the annual Xero event, Xerocon held in Brisbane. The event attracted in excess of 3,500 people and included a great line-up of inspirational, keynote speakers.

In its sixth year, the Toowoomba Business Disability Awards once again shined the spotlight on businesses and individuals in the Toowoomba and Darling Downs region who support, educate and employ people with a disability. Our Director, Ben and Audit Manager, Natalie attended the Gala Dinner and congratulated social enterprise, Ben and Co on winning our sponsored Business Engagement Award.

Director, Amanda put on her mentor hat at the Toowoomba Startup Weekend event in mid-September. She joined a group of other successful professionals at the three-day event for aspiring female entrepreneurs across the region.

Our team’s passion for supporting charitable causes rounded off the month with Talk Like a Pirate Day. Following a scavenger hunt for pirate-themed costumes, team representatives battled it out with their best pirate impersonation. Congratulations to SMSF Specialist, Tim for taking out the win! Altogether, our team raised $178.50 for Childhood Cancer Support.
